SFHR development driver enters Freedom 100
MAY 02, 2014
Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing development driver Kyle O’Gara will compete in the Freedom 100 on May 23 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval.
O'Gara, 19, will drive the No. 27 Fan Force United car through a partnership with SFHR's development program and support from Indy Trading Post and RW Motorsports.
O'Gara, the brother-in-law of Verizon IndyCar Series team co-owner Sarah Fisher, will make his third career Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires appearance. He drove last year in the Freedom 100 and the Lefty's Kids Club 100 at Auto Club Speedway.
"I am very excited to get behind the wheel of a Lights car for the first time this season," the Beech Grove, Ind., resident said. "The Freedom 100 is a race that means very much to me, and I am grateful for getting another opportunity to race in it.
"I have to thank everyone at SFHR Development for putting this program together. Without them, none of this would be possible. I also want to thank FFU for their hard work these past few weeks. All of these guys deserve a good month of May."
O'Gara will race alongside FFU teammate Scott Anderson.
"All of us at Fan Force United are very excited to have Kyle racing for us at the Freedom 100," team co-owner Tyce Carlson said. "He will be a great teammate to Scott in our No. 24 car, and we look forward to the information they provide together to help us compete against the other multi-car teams.
"On a personal note, I have known Kyle's family for almost 20 years and have watched him race from a very young age in quarter-midgets and karts. It is great to see a young man grow throughout the years in this business and never give up on his goals."
Indy Trading Post also is O'Gara's sponsor in his full-season RW Motorsports USAC efforts. O'Gara will compete in a USAC Silver Crown race May 17 and a USAC Midget race May 24.
The Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires field will test May 4 on the 2.5-mile Speedway oval. Practice and qualifying for the 40-lap race is May 22.
