Cusick Morgan Motorsports announced June 17 that Yuven Sundaramoorthy (photo, top) will join the INDY NXT by Firestone team as its official reserve driver.

The announcement follows Sundaramoorthy's appearance with the team June 7 at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR), where he stepped in for Nicolas Stati to drive the No. 15 Cusick Morgan Motorsports entry. Stati, who had a prior commitment during the St. Louis race weekend, will return to competition this weekend at Road America and for the remainder of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season.

Sundaramoorthy made an immediate impression at WWTR (photo, above), qualifying ninth and running as high as seventh despite not having competed in INDY NXT action for 20 months.

“WWTR weekend wouldn’t be possible without Cusick Morgan Motorsports and our amazing partners, Visit Milwaukee,” Sundaramoorthy said. “Continuing this relationship with Cusick Morgan Motorsports means a great deal to me.

“They were incredibly welcoming and supportive in helping me get up to speed and perform at my best in St. Louis. They gave me a great car, and I am proud of what we accomplished throughout the weekend. I'm excited to continue working with the team and grateful for their belief in me moving forward.”

The team was equally impressed by University of Wisconsin graduate Sundaramoorthy's professionalism, preparation and performance throughout the weekend.

“Don (Cusick) and I, as well as our entire team, are excited to have Yuven stick with us as a reserve driver for the remainder of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season,” team co-owner Billy Morgan said. “We want to keep him sharp in case another opportunity presents itself, as we’ll have him provide valuable input for the team as a whole.”
