Bryce Aron has joined Cape Motorsports Powered by ECR for the 2027 INDY NXT by Firestone season, bringing three full-time seasons of experience in the INDYCAR development series to the championship-winning organization.

The 23-year-old American will be behind the wheel the No. 21 entry, which Nikita Johnson drove to the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone championship. Johnson won two races and was the only driver to earn a top-10 finish in all 17 races while completing every lap of the season. Cape Motorsports also won four of the 17 races in 2026, with Johnson and teammate Matteo Nannini each earning two victories.

“Very excited to be joining the reigning INDY NXT champions for the 2027 season,” Aron said. “I’ve followed the success of the Cape Brothers for many years and enjoyed seeing them win at each level of the Road to Indy ladder system. I can’t wait to get started and see what we can achieve together with my experience next season.”

Aron (photo, above) joins the reigning series champions following an INDY NXT career that began in 2024 with Andretti Global. He returned to the series in 2025 but moved to HMD Motorsports for the season opener before joining Chip Ganassi Racing for the second race of the year. He remained with the team through the 2026 season. He has earned two podium finishes and 22 top-10 results in 45 career starts.

A native of Winnetka, Illinois, Aron has competed in open-wheel racing since age 15. He made his GB3 Championship debut in 2021 and returned to the series in 2022 before moving to the Euroformula Open Championship for the 2023 season.

Aron got his first opportunity to work with the Cape team during the Chris Griffis Memorial Test on Oct. 16 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
